Popular Falkemedia City Magazine Produced with WoodWing Enterprise
The publishing house falkemedia specializes in technical and special interest magazines. Starting in March 2009, KIELerLEBEN will be their first magazine using the WoodWing Enterprise editorial system. Seven more titles will follow within the next few months.
45.000 copies
The falkemedia portfolio includes international magazines covering lifestyle, computers, photography, audio books and music production. With a circulation of more than 45,000, their monthly KIELerLEBEN (“Experience Kiel/Life in Kiel”) is the biggest Kiel city magazine. It is the authoritative guide to events and sports, containing boulevard news and classified ads. It is published both as a classical free issue and as a premium edition with additional content and many sweepstakes and vouchers.
State-of-the-art
Modern, adaptable, cost-efficient and possessing significant technological development potential — those were the key criteria falkemedia used to select WoodWing Enterprise. “The solution shows a state-of-the-art but proven approach,” says Ümit Mericler, managing editor of Mac Life, a falkemedia publication, referring to the combination of well-known software standards like PHP, SOAP, Apache and MySQL. “They clearly made a fresh start and don’t drag years of backward compatibility and obsolete technology with them.”
Web integration
“We were also excited about the consistent use of Internet technology, enabling a decentralized and cross-media working environment. And the integration with the Drupal Content Management System matched seamlessly with our requirements,” Mericler added. Managing director Kassian A. Goukassian stresses cost efficiency: “The WoodWing Enterprise editorial system also had a very attractive price to offer.”
Seven publications in four months
With the help of system integrator ProPublish AG, falkemedia will convert seven additional publications to WoodWing Enterprise before the summer: Beat, DigitalPHOTO, MAC easy, Mac Life, iPod&more, hörBücher and RENDSBURGerLEBEN. “An ambitious goal, but based on our experience so far we are looking forward with confidence,” Goukassian concludes.
